Opposition Threat To Canada's Corporate Tax Cuts
There is currently in Canada a debate over the future of the country’s corporate tax rate, and commentators have predicted that it could cause an early general election if the government is not able to gain support for its tax plans and pass the national budget, which is scheduled to be released in March.

China Approves Property Tax Trials
The Chinese government has approved the immediate application, as a pilot, of
the property tax in Shanghai and Chongqing that had been proposed originally by
the Ministry of Finance in October last year.

HMRC Denies 'Losing' National Insurance Contributions
The UK tax authority, HM Revenue and Customs has refuted a number of UK media reports,
which stated that the tax authority had lost over GBP1bn in National Insurance
Contributions, affecting taxpayers’ future pension entitlements, as entirely
erroneous.
Cameron Issues Doha Clarion Call
A newly-published report from the UK government and championed by Prime Minister,
David Cameron, argues that for the Doha agreement to be successful negotiations

The Canadian Fiscal Monitor has just been released showing that there was a budgetary deficit of CAD4.5bn in November 2010, compared to a CAD4.4bn deficit in November 2009; and revenues increased by CAD2.6bn, or 15.4%, to CAD19.4bn.
